Hello!

First of all, thanks for reading my travel blog!

I decided to take a gap year in Spring 2009 and applied to work as a volunteer with a charity based in my hometown. I'd never thought about traveling independently before and the idea of taking a whole year off seemed completely foreign to me!

My change of mind is due to a number of reasons, but more than anything it's thanks to going to Iceland with 13 wonderful girls from Girlguiding UK. Planning, fund raising and then embarking on a 2 week adventure of a lifetime around Iceland where we met people from countries all around the world at an international camp opened up the world for me and made me feel I could do all the things I dreamed of.

A gap year seemed the perfect time to do them :)

The photo on the website banner is from Iceland, one of many long roads I hope to see the end of!

P.S My A Levels went happily and I have an unconditional place at UCL in London to study Anthropology once my gap year is over!
